Blades / Vanes

Winbro also addresses the requirement of turbine engine manufacturers to produce precision airfoil shapes for compressor blades and vanes.

Winbro’s ECM Forming (high power, salt electrolyte) process has been developed specifically for compressor blades and vanes, the process is capable of producing a finished airfoil – concave and convex surfaces, leading and trailing edges as well as the platform in a single operation. Winbro’s process can be used on components with finished root forms, which optimises the manufacturing processes.

Components can be produced from a range of ‘preforms’, from blank bar-stock to oversize forgings or castings.

The process is most effective on materials that are difficult to machine conventionally as ECM Forming is not affected by material hardness. Stainless steels, superalloys and titanium materials are all readily processed.
