STEM Drilling
Winbro STEM drilling produces holes by anodic dissolution using titanium tubular cathodes that have an insulating exterior coating. Very high depth-to-diameter ratio holes can be drilled and many holes (and components) can be drilled simultaneously without slowing of the drilling rate.
The STEM process also has the capability to produce varying holes diameters throughout the hole length. This allows the production of ‘turbulated’ holes that are required for improved cooling efficiency in some axial cooling hole applications.
Winbro’s STEM drilling applications range:
- Up to 600 mm deep
- Hole diameters 0.5 to 7.0mm
- Up to 150 holes simultaneously
